The Lazydays Partners Foundation, along with Kids charity of Tampa Bay, recently celebrated the building completion of A Kid’s Place, a state-of-the-art center for abused, abandoned and neglected children. At this event, the Lazydays House, one of the facility’s first shelter homes to open its doors, was also commemorated.
After Learning about the project, the Lazydays Partners Foundation pledged $400,000 to become a House Sponsor. Over the last several years, Lazydays employees raised the pledge money primarily through payroll deductions. Today, the 3,200-s.f. home is nestled among four others on the facility’s five acre Brandon campus and will provide animmediate reprieve for children who have been removed from an abusive home.
“We have all eagerly anticipated this moment for the past two years.” Said Dana Philp, an employee of Lazydays for 25 years. Philp, who also serves as President of Lazydays Partners Foundation continued,
“Building the Lazydays House was not only close to the hearts of our employees but also our customers. It gives us all tremendous joy to be able to truly make a difference in the lives of our Bay area children.”
On June 3rd 2009 Lazydays employees as well as Kids Charity of Tampa Bay celebrated the official opening of The Lazydays House; commemorating the event with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony. Also present at the event were the new staff members of A Kid’s Place campus, who will greet the first group of children to call the Lazydays House home. The Lazydays House is fully furnished and well stocked with food, clothes, and toys to provide each child with a comfortable home environment. After years of fundraising and planning, the employees of Lazydays are excited and proud to see their dream become a reality.

What happens to a child when they’re removed from an abusive home in the middle of the night?
Where do they go?
Who cares for them when they get there?
The answer is a sad and unfortunate one, but with the help of the Lazydays Partners Foundation… it won’t be for long.
The LDPF has pledged more than $400,000 dollars to help build an emergency shelter to house children who are removed from a dangerous domicile in the middle of the night. Once constructed, this shelter will serve as a safe-haven where children can comfortably stay and be cared for until they are placed in the foster program.
Recently, Kids Charity of Tampa Bay held a groundbreaking ceremony in which the Lazydays Partners Foundation was recognized as a major contributor in taking the first step towards building a better future for children in need.
